Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

You know it!

I took it for a little test ride on saturday, but its still really cold up here. Though it feels so so much better then my old Trek 2000 with 105. A little weird with the campy shifters, though i supposed I will get used to them.

Switch isn't that bad. I race on 105 and train on centaur. Shifting is great on both systems. I like shimano FD shifting more because it feels much more sure of itself. Click and boom, whereas campy is a couple of clicks, oh ok I feel like shifting now. I'm exaggerating, but shimano feels better on the front, even though it has less trim, I don't get FD cage rub on anything but the most extreme settings and even then just a little bit.

Getting adjusted to campy is easier, because the shifter moves in the direction of the chain, so that's not too hard. It takes a couple of shifts to remember how shimano works because I reach for the thumb tab first to push in the direction of the chain, but that's all it is. Just one or two shifts after which I'm used to the system again.

To the OP: Sick bike! I love it. Ride the heck out of it!

The training ride right before a race will probably be on the race bike for that reason though, unless it's gross out in which case I'll use the backup. I'll race the backup bike if it's raining just because it's not worth the risk to crash my good bike when the probability of someone sliding out in front of me is higher.

I am going to be changing out the saddle. I really like my specialized toupe. Other then that, I still have the free hub body for the PT on my Zipps(i bought it from a campy user, so i changed it out to use on shimano). SO I will be rockin some 404s on there.....Actually, I just remembered the the front wheel has a Record hub, works out well.
