Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Armstrong Bikes?

So with LeMonds recent departure from Trek. Do you think there is any chance of Lance picking up the reigns and starting his own line....?

I wonder if part of his contract with Trek states that he can't compete.

It would be funny if they would not carry them at Mellow Johnny's bike shop in Austin.

Been out of the sport for a while? Greg was one of Lance's heroes as a kid, like he was to many of us who watched him on CBS's coverage of the Tour. They are now deadly enemies, period.

IMO Lance will not take part in the design of bicycles. He has higher goals. Trek may make a line or a series of frames with LA on them but Lance will only approve and not get intimate in the design as Lemond is (or was a few years ago. not sure now).

Definitely better than 'ArmMond'. Trek should perhaps do one major merge and make some Klishermondstrong bikes.

I think we all want that... maybe not Texas, and not necessarily his reported (was this ever confirmed) choice of young women, but that wouldn't be the worst goal in the world to have.

With Greg speaking out against Lance in the French press, stating that he must be doping, I don't believe this to be the case.

And according to a study dated 12th of November 1977 if current trends continue, Disco will soon become the most popular genre of popular music!

Can we at least get bikes without ridiculously long top tubes this time? Lemonds are way too long.

I'm surprised it's taken this long for Trek to make an Armstrong line.
I would have pushed for this long ago if I were a Trek exec.

Those of us with long torsos think that LeMonds are just the right length, thank you. If you don't like it, find a brand that fits you.

I'm assuming that Trek would do the designing and Lance would do the publicizing and marketing... and maybe pick out a color scheme or two.

From what I've read in his books, I'd be wary of a bike actually designed by his yellowness. Fortunately a situation where he actually sits in front of a CAD machine is laughable.

It could be an interesting bicycle line.

If you say something bad about it, it sues you.
But it would only hang out with bikes that looked like your Mom's bike.

Trek would go out of business . . . all the Lance wannabees would switch over to his bike.
