Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Columbus steel frame 2003 Allez

I am considering selling my 2003 Specialized Allez Elite. It has a Columbus steel frame with 105 all around, Shimano wheelset, carbon seatpost and fork, and Selle Italia saddle. I was wondering if anyone out there would have any idea what something like this could sell for. I'm not terribly motivated to sell, but everyone has their price right? I should mention that the frame is damn near flawless. I was thinking for the right buyer it might be worth $850+. Lemme know if you think that is way off base.

I don't know if the steel frame will make it more or less attractive than aluminum. My gut feeling is that it might be overpriced at 850. Take a look on ebay for ended auctions for an idea. Of course that has no bearing on what you'd get for it locally because buyer wouldn't have to pay shipping and could look and touch and ride. Those two things would be worth a couple hundred to me. No help, I know.

Check eBay completed auctions for any recent auctions for your bike.

It's worth about $450 on eBay.
