First Set of full Carbon Tubular Wheels.... LOTS of Questions on these Corimas....
Hey all,
I just am about to purchase my first set of carbon rims; they are used, decal-less Corima Aeros.
I do not race, but I plan to someday.
Anyways, anyone have any experience with these wheels? I tried and couldn't come up with any reviews. I believe these also the older Aeros.

Anyone know the weight of the older tubular Aeros are?

They seem to have done well in the "GREAT WHEEL TEST" post, lagging slightly behind the Zipp 404s, but then again, I do not know much about them.....
Are these bomb-proof, have a history of exploding/blowing up? I'm (a non-bulimic) 115 lbs and these have 12 spokes in the front and 24 in the rear.
Also, what tires would you recommend for a non-racer as of yet? Most tubulars go for >$50 (something I'm not willing to spend. To answer the question "Why are you willing to buy expensive wheels and can't afford good tubulars" I am going to say that I'll be purchasing these wheels at a steal and wouldn't want 40% of the cost to go to the tires alone..... This also answers the question of my purchase when I'm not even racing at the moment).
I have also heard that the Kool-Stop Salmon pads work well with carbon brake surfaces; is that correct? What is the most popular choice of carbon brake pads????

^^^^ Expensive and non-durable.... But I bet they perform very well!
I will get into that area some day, but this will be my first experience with tubulars so I would like a suggestion for a great starter set of tires that won't blow my budget and introduce me into a new "realm" of things....

I have a set of 650c Corima tubulars. Rear 4-spoke, and front 12 wire spoke aero. I have beaten them hard and the front one has stayed true. I weigh 170. As I put them up for sale recently, I checked the bearings carefully, and they all seem just fine.
