Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cassett help

Well I bought a new(to me) bike a few weeks ago with campy record(lovin it), it is my first campy bike. I have all shimano on my others(minus the sram on the MTB). I was wondering if there is a cassett that will go on a shimano freehub that is compatible with campy. Because I dont have the money to change over my P3(which I race on weekly) to campy. I have some 404s with a PT. I know that I can get the campy freehub body, and just change it out. Though the issue is that I dont know how well it would be to be changing back and forth like that(the freehubs).

Model #1 I believe will allow you to use a 10 speed shimano cassette.

Here is a campy cassette that will work on a shimano hub, at least it will work on a powertap shimano hub. It is available through Saris.

American Classic makes conversion cassettes. I use one on my Shimano type wheel with my Campy drivetrain. Search "conversion cassette". Works pretty well for me.

One problem you might run into with conversion cassettes is that Campy cassettes take up more space than Shimano or SRAM so the wheel is dished differently. I don't know how a conversion cassette can work because it seems like the tenth cog would be were the spokes are on a Shimano campatible wheel. Some people seem to have gotten it to work, but others have problems. I know some people use a Shimano 9 speed cassette that will work pretty well with a Campy 10 speed drivetrain because the spacing is similar, but you have to be careful not to shift into where the tenth cog would be, because your RD will hit the spokes. Another option is to switch out your PT hub with a Campy freehub, redish the wheel and then use a conversion cassette to allow it to work with the Shimano drivetrains on your other bikes. Seems like alot of trouble though. I think the Shiftmate might be your best bet.
