Road bike forum inspirations
Probably not a big deal to many, but today I set a personal best riding my TT route of 42 miles, averaging 20.1 mph in the wind beating my personal best of 18.4 mph during my peak of last year.
Usually when riding I get some stupid song stuck in my head and it repeats itself the entire ride (thanks to Event Services blog it's recently been TMBG Istanbul). But today the focus was on a lot of the treads and people in this forum.
Some of the people and their post I was thinking about when I did today's ride in no particular order - and don't get a big head over this because I still suck:
Water Rockets - the name alone is what it implies, explosive power. The photos of you suffering in races also helped (as did the photos of you launching water rockets with WR jr)
The guy who's profile reads: attack/ reload (especially helpful on tuesday's group ride which 4 of us left the chit chat party behind and suffered taking turns pulling for the last 10 miles.
Killer Penguin: the post from last years Longso (my hometown race) were awesome, you have to be a suffering idiot to live through those 4 days (especially the mountian stage)
For that matter anyone who's posted a photo of themselves suffering in a race
Botto - as vague and illusive as your post are, if you dig deep enough there is a lot of racing wisdom buried deep within (you do need some heavy equipment though to dig though - is the "Shaved Legs" blog your's? (again illusive, but great stuff!)
Event Services - the yelling thread is the most common sense thread ever posted (and again, I don't know if the blog on your profile is your's, but excellent stuff!)
All around - the old guy who coined the phrase HTFU and gives inspiration to all of us old people, even though he's been called out on numerous threads as a complete elitist a-hole, he knows his stuff, I think his name might be Patentcad or Pcaddy or Pdiddy if memory serves
Ah, and how can we forget our dear brother Cypress, if the mods are reading this, please send him a personal invitation to come back and provide further inspiration to all wannabes like myself!
There's probably a hundred others I'm forgetting, but if you want to learn how to ride hard, fast and safe, sprint, hill climbs, whatever - these people and many others in here know their stuff. And don't ever dismiss their wisdom as being offensive - it's all good!!!
Anyone else think of any of this stuff when training? Probably not, but I felt a need to pour my heart out tonight. Think I'll have another Hop Devil and call it a night *weep*

Don't take it too hard, I'm just offended you didn't think of anything I said.
But to answer your question, thread topics do pop into my head while riding from time to time. It's usually the funny ones, though, which makes me laugh and lose my tempo.

if you're willing to read them i'm too lazy to look at an LCD screen that long), then you should spend some time with carpe diem racings blog/posts.
plenty of good, and overly verbose/informative info to be read.
also bob doppalina's posts/blog - even if he is a smug, know it all canadian (a redundant description if there ever was one) - has plenty of good info.

Just checking...
That book looks pretty interesting though. If I read it this year, it'd be the first book I'd read about New York that wasn't dealing with either Cholera or HIV.

I think I may have been jaded by internet forums (goes back to WBS days in the early 90s) because I don't get any inspiration from anything on any web site.
I learn things, sure. But, inspiration, no. They do say I'm an introvert.
Glad the OP is evolved enough to accept divine inspiration in ether.

The Road/ Racing forum isn't my only source, but it did help me break through a barrier (20+ mph average) on yesterday's ride.
Watching videos of people suffering in some of the recent European races (Paris - Nice, Flanders, Paris - Roubaix) is another great source of motivation.
And love him or hate him, seeing Lance push the pace on the climbs of the Alps and Pyrenees for seven years helped motivate me to become a better climber
Just curious, what motivates you to ride?

That would be substructure - the man in preparation for a spanking in the sandhills. Just not sure if he will be administering or receiving.
