shimano cassettes
I just got my new wheels back and I have a question concerning the cassette the shop put on. Well, I was charged for a 105 12-25 but there is no markings on it any where. My other set of wheels had 105 printed on the one of the four black rings in the center of the cogs. Is this something they quite doing or did I get hosed? I did notice a difference in the shifting. It wasn't any better or worse, just noisier. It almost sounded as if it were loose.
Hell, I'm new to all this so any input would be appreciated. Before I go down there and make an ass out of myself I'd like to know if I've got a legitimate gripe.
Thanks

Those black rings don't say 105, they say 10S. Like 10 speed spacers.

Thanks, I always enjoy making myself sound like an idiot. But what about the noise. Could it be because the cogs aren't worn yet?
Thanks again

Did you get a new chain. If you are using a worn chain on a new cassette it will make some noise since the teeth and the holes in the chain don't align properly.

1) you're still using the old chain, and it needs replaced.
2) 10 speed cassette on a 9 speed hub, without a spacer, leaving the cogs a little loose. (However, I would think the shop would know to use a spacer if your wheel/cassete combo needed it.)
My vote is with No. 1

I paid for Ultegra and they gave me a 95! Not even 105!
(ok, I admit that the only reason I knew that it was '10S' was because of my 9-speed experience)
