Winter from HELL breaks; red lines on my quads!

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Winter from HELL breaks; red lines on my quads!

Holy crap, what a weekend.

Seriously...sun marks on my legs already. WONDERFUL!

After doing nothing at all for weeks, this past week I rode every day. Today, Sunday, made seven days in a row, and Saturday and Sunday were both sunny with temps about 70 both days. I just completed another 40 miles, making for back-to-back 40's, both with chase downs in the middle of each ride.

And just for pcad,I made sure to spit on the dude that tried to out run me today when I passed him doing 25's after he tried to drop me from sucking his wheel.

Yesterday I spit on a guy for having mis-matched riding gear on.
OK, so I made those two up to make pcad smile...

True story from today though...
Had a guy and a chick on a Harley ahead of me just tooling around enjoying the park. Well, I was having a moment on the bike, and was going faster than the Harley.

It was too funny....
I must have going about 23 or so and he was obviously slower...First I darted to the left thinking I might try that, but he weaved over and I back off. Then I tried on the right, and the chick on the back finally saw me and alerted the driver. He finally pulled to the left a bit and she motioned to pass on the right.

As I went past them he started talking to me, and I thought he was gonna be pissed. Nope. It was cool.
He said, "I'm just toolin' around lookin' at the scenery. You OK?" I gave him thumbs up as I passed and I could hear them laughing behind me.

This weather and my training keeps up this good, I may just have to enter that race on Saturday and kick psimet's butt in the Cat 5, then cheer on recursive in Cat 3 later.

If red lines appeared on my quads, it would have more to do with frostbite than sunshine.

Me too, except only on my left side today. The first half of my ride today was completed in overcast conditions. Then brunch, and the sun popped out for the second half. Have lots of red areas on the left side of my body.

I'd take extreme Arizona heat over Nebraska/Iowa winters any day.
100+ degrees and 100% humidity MIGHT be the most unpleasant weather to speak of.

Winter breakes? Not if you live in the NW. Saw where some place in Montana got 18 inches of snow today. Son lives in Missoula. Hardly been able to get on a bike, however he said they are still skiing powder.

Yep, woke up to snow this morning. Effing ridiculous. I still rode today and yesterday though. Today was cold and cloudy, but the roads were clear and no preciptation during the day so I popped out 30 miles. Only 15 yesterday since it was snowing/raining.

Friday was nice though. Shorts and a long sleave jersey, and sunny. I did a fastish 40 miles and it felt great, plus I saw a herd of Bighorn sheep munching grass on the side of the road. Cool!

Last weekend it was suny and in the 70s though. Not sure what happened, but I don't like it

A banner day here in the east as well. Temps in the 80's - spectacular. Got a good start on my weird tan lines for the summer.

Riding in the cold isn't a bad thing in and of itself. . . but the best part is how much better the spring rides feel when the weather breaks.

I got a nice tan (read: burn) going as well. The good thing about criteriums is that you get every angle evenly.
