Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I rode a Kestrel frame for 15 years. Just started my second. No issues. For whatever reason I trust carbon more than aluminum.

I only have 3 or so years on my Giant, but obviously no issues.

shider put clost to 20 years on his carbon Trek. No problems that I am aware of. Buy crap though and you'll get crap. Whether it's AL or Carbon.

Damn! Beat me to it... That being said I have more faith in the long term durability (fatigue life) of carbon fiber composites than I do aluminum. Just don't damage it through abuse and it will last practically forever. (Abuse being defined here as subjecting it to conditions beyond its intended design.)

Thanks for the info, I asked 4 bike shops yesterday and they tell me they only sell about 4 to 6 bikes a year with carbon parts. Confused I called one of the "Spendy" bike shops and they sell quite a few Carbon things.
I had just read some horror stories and some good things and I like to see what yall got to say...

If I find Carbon to be as tough as some say, I may switch to a Carbon Fork on my Hardrock. I use it as a town bike to pull trailers now.
I have carbon road thing and I love the smoothness and lightness.

I've damaged an aluminum frame, crankarm, and bars. Never had any problems with my carbon stuff.

Someone needs to call these 4 bike shops and let them know there's newer bikes out there to sell then models with headlights built into the headtubes.
