Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Roadie Haikus

This came to me when I stopped at a variety store to get a carton of chocolate milk. The usual cast of bearded and grungey types with their knobby-tired Specialized MTBs with full suspension were reposing out front. They were mesmerized by my very elegant and comparatively minimalistic ride.

I know the 5-7-5, but you see, it's easier in Japaneses because it goes 'ご-しち-ご' which is '4'
I'm talking about the English version.

自己嫌悪[じこけんお」 - 'self loathing' in Japanese fits 5 perfectly btw.

Let's see if I remember this correctly. My wife was an English writing major with an emphasis in poetry and she always gets pissed when she hears someone say it has to be 5-7-5.

An English haiku simply has to be less than 17 syllables and it can be 2 or three lines. And to be a true haiku it has to be about nature. Otherwise it is a senryu.

The beauty of haiku is that you can apply it to anything. I laugh until I pee at Mullet haikus.
