Ran over a screw- OK to use tire? [Pictures]
I had the misfortune of running over a screw on my morning commute. It punctured my tire- Continental GP Force- and flatted my tube.
My question is this: Is the tire still OK to use? I'd hate to throw away a fairly new and costly tire just because of one incident. Plus, it doesnt look so bad from the inside.

how does it look inflated?
just put some strap tape/leak sealing tape and duct tape.
I've got a pair of bites worse than that on my wheels, and they seem to hold up fine with the duct tape and strap tape.

I do a bunch of crits and road races on these tires, and I'm afriad that little patch might throw me off in a turn. I think I'll just buy another pair and use these as general day-to-day training tires.

You're better off than me. I sliced the sidewall of my Continental GP 4000 brushing up against a galvanized utility box cover. I didn't think much about it at the time, but later noticed my tube bulging through the sidewall. I only had 200 miles on it. Fortunately REI is having their 20% off one item sale, so I didn't have to pay $58. Nice tires, though.

It's not about how it looks on the inside. Put a boot on it (anything that'll hold will work), park boot material, dollar bill, duct tape. If there is no visible bulge when you inflate the tire up to riding pressure and the tube is not sticking out then you should be ok.

Simple, take a little scrap of denim cut to fit, clean the tire with mineral spirits and use Goop brand goop smeared all over and through the fibers of the denim. Press in place in roughly the same shape the tire is supposed to be when mounted and inflated and let cure. It's not perfect but it's not going to let the tube escape, it holds the tire in shape and rocks can't get in. You're looking to have a little Goop squeeze out the hole the screw left. You can cut it off or just ride it off.
This is goop:

I just use the all purpose for all purposes, I suppose one of the specialty brands might work better, dunno.

I would use some superglue on the outside to close the gap and some duct tape on the inside to protect the tube. If it doesn't bulge any under full pressure use it. If it does toss it.
It's only a $30 tire and pain has no price.

That'll be fine with a boot.
