Easton EA90 SLX vs. EA90 Aero
So it looks like I can get a hot deal on either of these wheels.
The question is really how the reduced weight of the SLX stacks up against the semi aero profile of the "aero's"
Here are the stats:
EA90SLX:
weight: 1472g
rim height: 21mm front, 25mm rear
EA90 Aero:
weight: 1545g
rim height: 28mm front, 32mm rear (bladed spokes)
I know there isn't really a significant weight difference, but you know how it can get!
These wheels are going to my everyday training/racing wheels
I also have a pair of 55m carbon tubulars.
Any opinions?

6 of one, 1/2 dozen of the other. The Aero have deeper rims (stronger) but fewer spokes (weaker). The Aero will also have a small aerodynamic benefit over the SLX, but not nearly as much as with the 55mm tubulars. Can't go wrong either way... I'd say go with whichever you can get for less.

how many spokes and what will be their main use?
I ask because I have areo, low spoke count wheels which are good for generally flat road races but feel like cheese in crits! and I have the same brand wheels, just lighter, less aero rims with higher spoke count which are much better at crits and hills but obvously not as aero.

EA90SLX have 18 front, 24 rear.
EA90 Aero have 18 front, 20 rear.
At this stage they will be used for training, and also for racing when I dont use the 50mm

Well its not really that hot, not the "fallen of the back of a truck" kind. They seem to be available on ebay for less than 500, seems like a pretty good deal considering their retail price.

I just bought a a pair of the Aero. It should take a week before I get them and I will compare them to my Mavic SL's '08. I got them(EA-90 Aero) for $460. They seemed like a good deal. I was going to buy the Rolf Vigors 34mm deep but I thought for 65 grams I'll save $400 and go with the Eastons 32mm deep.
