Lame survey, you need an odd number of choices, a neutral with equal numbers of positives and negatives on either side. Your results will be skewed, but then again, so are most BD owners.

I bought a mountain bike from BD and once I got everything tuned (disk brakes suck to adjust) it was a great bike. Took it for a ride today and got it all muddy; it was a fantastic ride and I have no complaints.

my first road bike was a dawes lightening something or other, and while it was very inexpensive, that is reflected in the components. has resulted in several hi speed dropped chains, one resulting in a crash.

when i got really serious about riding, abotu 2 months later, i bought a raleigh and havnt looked back. i stuck some bmx platforms on the dawes and use it as my beater when i dont feel like riding the fixed gear.

*includes complete disassembly, frame alignment, frame prep, replaced rear derailleur hanger and bottom bracket, did a professional fitting and replaced bar, stem, seatpost. I also had to buy aftermarket Shimano Ultegra brakes, crankset, chain, cassette, front derailleur and headset so I could be 'full Ultegra' as advertised. All this since I couldn't send the shoddily assembled bike back in a pre-paid UPS box, no questioned asked.

Added: But I have the satisfaction of riding the same bike that has won many Tours de France

My first road bike was a cheapo Dawes Lightning 1000, with cheap components, wheels, saddle, ect. I still have it and it rides pretty well for a $369 bike. I've put over 3,500 miles on it, including four centuries. The Sora shifters have performed and held up remarkebly well, to be so low-end.

My second bike is a Mercier Draco with carbon seatpost, forks and completely outfitted with DA drivetrain and brakes. It came with a 12-25 cassette, instead of the advertised 12-27. I e-mailed Mike, and he immediately swapped it out, with no problem. I have 1,624 miles on it, and am very pleased with it. Nice bike for $1495. None of the LBS's had anything outfitted with DA. Not even their high-end bikes at over $3000!!

None of my business but why weren't you able to return the bike after unboxing it and finding it didn't have all the Ultegra components you thought you were getting? The non Ultegra crankset, brakes and front derailluer would have been noticable as soon as it was out of the box without disassembly at the LBS. Just wondering.

You'd be surprised how many name brand bikes arrive at the bike shop in similar condition.

I wish this poll was public, I bet the Bd shills probably created multiple user accounts.

Haven't bought a bike from them, but just perusing, it seems like the frame sizes are limited, thereby making it difficult to purchase, even if I wanted to.
Sorry for not voting and screwing your skewing.
Seems like the Kestrel is the deal of the century,
but no sizes to fit and terrible copper color choice.

I wonder how many poll responses are simply BD bashing? Like your own post for example.

    +1

I was going to reply asking how many of the seven (at this point) people who voted lame actually bought a bike from them. I bought mine yesterday so I will be able to vote soon.

That's BS - Mike lists the components. In all the BD bashing around here, I've heard of ONE substitution - a bottom bracket.
Reacting is mind candy; it requires no thought. Thinking is tedious.

RT700 Holiday buy. Came with damaged RD and Mike replaced. After my LBS tuned, great bike and value.
