Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Looking to replace my SPD shoes.

Since a recent mishap with a door opening into me resulted in a gash in my shoe, it's time to upgrade.

I need the ability to walk in the shoes sometimes. I've been using these:

https://www.specialized.com/bc/SBCEqP...jsp?spid=33727
(Specialized BG Taho MTB shoe)

They worked ok, though I always felt they were a little too narrow (I feel a pinched nerve with narrow shoes, so I have to be careful in that regard).

I already have SPD pedals that I like, and though I ride roads 100% of the time, I don't mind using a MTB shoe so that I have the option of walking around with relative comfort.

Any suggestions on a good option for me? Keep in mind:

Already have SPD pedals.
Like to be able to walk. -- rigid sole ok, no sole not ok.
I ride anywhere from 10 to 50 miles at a time.
I'm on a road bike.

Maybe what I'm looking for is a touring shoe? I don't really know.

Go to a bike shop with a good selection of shoes. Try on all the shoes with the features you want. Buy what fits you the best. Fit is more important than most other shoe features.
