New guy, questions about OCr3
Hey, I'm just starting out in road biking and I'm looking at a Giant OCR3 on eBay and looking for advice.
There's no reserve and it's started at $300, it's a 2005, isn't that a little low with no reserve? I'm just so iffy about eBay these days, scammers out the wazoo.

There's the bike actually, the person selling it has excellent reviews.
Another question, where can I get cheap pedals for it if I were to win it? It doesn't come with pedals, and I've browsed various forums with other people in my similar situation and most people are suggesting nothing but $80-$100 pedals, doesn't seem right for me to pay less then $400 for a bike and then another $100 just to get it moving. Aren't there cheaper pedals which can be had for these bikes? If so could anyone direct me towards them? I thought about just taking the pedals off of my current roadmaster and applying them on the OCR, then buying those straps I see some people using.
I'm really on a tight budget, so a used bike seemed to be the best choice, I was always looking at a Schwinn Seneca someone had for sale on craiglist, looks ok, the person claims to have 3,700mi on it. Pretty sturdy for only a $300 bike new.
I am also looking at a local bike shop, it has a Giant Cadex 980 for $385.00, it's in OK shape as well but it's grungy and this bike is like 12 years old the price is suprising. The bike looks like whoever had it last really loved riding it but never really cared for keeping it nice.

My first question is, How tall are you? That is a big bike. 58 CM is an extra large size frame as far as Giant is concerned.
The $300 is probably where I would start out the bidding if I were selling that bike. It's three years old and admittedly has a few scuffs and corrosion. I would not worry about the price, but I would want to make sure the bike will fit me first.
Also, cheap pedals can be fund anywhere. You can probably pick up some pedals with toe clips for a pretty reasonable price at your local shop. If you want clipless pedals you can spend as little or as much as you desire.

That's a big bike: you'd want to be the 6'2" the seller says, not the 5'8". If it's too bif you can't really make it fir well and you want enjoy riding it. You can get entry level pedals to fit the bike for under $35: search for Shimano R540 SPD-SL on PBK (look it up!) to see what I mean.
You can get a brand new 08 OCR3 here for $750 so I think you'd be looking at half that for a 2005 bike.
