Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Advice for Purchasing 2000 Lemond Tourmalet

Hi all, I was at the LBS yesterday and stumbled upon a used 2000 (I think) Lemond Tourmalet being offered for $500. It looked to have the stock Tiagra gruppo with the addition of aero bars. My current ride has a 105 mix. I am not new to road biking; I consider myself a medium-fast pace recreational rider. On a good week I may put in 90 miles or so. Frankly, I just want to try out the feel of a steel frame. I've only ridden, and currently have, aluminum. I'm debating whether to purchase, and I want to be certain that $500 is fair for this bike.

Sounds over-priced, to me. Offer 'em less, and offer cash, if you really want the bike.
