Polar 400/600 & 625/725 users a ?
I have the cs200 w/ cadence and while it mostly works fine I have a pretty major issue with it and wonder if these other models have the same problem.
Heart rate readings are quite erroneous pretty much every time I ride. It's most often wrong when I'm cold, in windy conditions which includes going downhill fast, and other times just randomly. It reads really high bpm of 22x or 200+.
I'd like to get one of the other models if they don't have that issue. Feedback is appreciated.

I swapped my 200 for a 400 for that reason; much better. I still get a 250 HR reading about once every other month.

Is this all on the same ride? Sounds like you are getting interference somewhere on that ride, like power lines or something. Do you ride near a military installation? You could possibly be getting some interference from something like that. The HRM functions are usually pretty accurate. I have been having some trouble with the speed sensor signal but I tihnk that is because the speed sensor is not sitting close enough to the magnet, due to the odd shape of my carbon fork. I have the 725.

So to answer your question, I don't ride around military places and I don't even think I"m around power lines often when I get the erratic readings.

Overhead wires definitely affect matters. I have a 725 and it occasionally spikes the mph reading when I'm around wires. The HR is generally okay. When I get zappy HR readings, it usually means the battery is getting low. The cadence portion is usually extremely stable for some reason.
My problem is that if I use it indoors, I tend to sweat on it and then the red on/off button gets sticky and won't activate new laps, etc. Can usually fix by squirting with clean water, but seems like a poor design for sports equipement.

OP,
How long have you had the unit? Do you wash the electrode belt in the washing machine and unsnap both sides of the transmitter when you aren't using it? Take a look at the snaps, are they dirty?

I've been using the CS400 for about half a year now. It gives me really good readings. Once in a while it would just stop giving accurate readings, but when I tightened/readjusted the strap the problem went away.
As far as I know, the CS200 and 400 use the same 'wearlink' strap and transmitter, so I would try to sort out your problems before spending more cash on the 400. I'm in New York and have never had a problem with interference. Try tightening the strap and experimenting with different positions. Make sure you slobber all over it too.

Today, for example, I started out around 10pm in Manhattan and it read fine for the first few hours, but then I noticed around 2 or 3 am when I was pretty much in the middle of nowhere just riding rolling hills surrounded by forest and farms it started giving me the crazy readings.
