SRAM Front Derail. compatible with Campy group?
Will an SRAM Rival front derailleur work with a Campy (non QS) Veloce group? I'm looking to replace my everyday roadie with SRAM Rival parts, replacing the Campy parts here and there as I find good deals. Eventually the Campy parts will go on my 'nice' roadie. Thanks!

any front lever can pretty much operate any FD.

True... but the campy micro trim makes compatibility even easier.
I had an issue on the tandem with the "Escape mechanism" Veloce levers not having the right spacing for my new crankset's chainrings. It could not be adjusted properly no matter what. I switched the lever to Chorus (which has the same mech as Record as well as the pre-escape Centaur/Veloce). With the Chorus levers, the FD was setup and adjusted in minutes.

hmm... I'm pretty certain chainring spacing is standard within a certain group - i.e., all 9-speed cranks, all 10-speed cranks, etc.

I thought so too. Until I fought with this problem for many many hours. I just got sick of it, and stole the Chorus lever off of my CAAD8, so I could ride the tandem ride I planned the next morning.
But anyway... Pretty much any lever will operate any FD with any crank properly... With great ease when using Campy (non-escape) levers
