Crankset/ Chainring question

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Crankset/ Chainring question

I'm looking at picking up a 'cross bike and turning it into a commuter. I want to take most of the components off and swap with another bike. The 'cross bike comes with TruVativ Elita Cross GXP crankset with 38/49 chainrings. I checked the Truvativ website, and these aren't listed. What I would like to know is what BCD size rings I can put on. I was thinking about swapping to compact chainrings.

I could not find a link to any email from Truvativ, and I emailed BD, but they didn't answer the question. Anyway to tell or do I have to wait and see when the bike arrives?

I'm 99% sure that they use a standard 130mm BCD. The 38 t ring is a give away. Its the smallest ring that fits 130 mm BCD. Other than that Truvativ uses 110 mm BCD (compact) and if it was compact it would have a 36 or 34 t inner chainring.

Regards, Anthony

130mm BCD it is. I was going to get one of those for winter bike but I decided not to, too much components to swap and it's not disc compatible.

Maybe I should wait then. What other components did you have to swap?
