Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

thoughts on teamcyclist.com?

has anyone had any trouble when ordering from them? After placing an order with them last week, I got this email today.

Dear *****,

Thank you for your order. Your order is being prepared to ship.
For security purposes, the following information is required in order to release and ship to you. Please include your order number when sending any of the following to process your order more quickly.
- A copy of a utility bill in your name with your current billing address.
OR
- A copy of your card statement with your current billing address.
OR
- A copy of your Driver's License with your current billing address.

I'm a little pissed it took so long for them to tell me this, but I'm more upset that they feel the need to ask me for any of this info in the 1st place. No other online retailer feels the need to ask for any of this info, what makes them any different?

BTW the $$$ is already out of my account, so they had no problems there.

Screw Teamcyclist.com. Their prices aren't that good, and most items they show online aren't even in-stock.

I ordered from them once, it took FOREVER to get my products so I won't be ordering again. That being said, I never got an email like that from them... Sounds kinda shady.

I just wrote this in another thread: My sister ordered something from them last year, they charged her credit card immediately but did not deliver the product. It took a long time to finally get a refund. Basically, those guys are selling stuff they don't actually have, which would be ok if they actually knew they could get it, but apparently they don't.

Sounds like they are selling items they don't have current distribution agreements to sell. Sounds like they are going to use your information for the credit check with the distributor of the items you are buying in order to set up their account. Total shady.

I would steer clear, demand a refund from your Credit Card Company and find a professional source.

That's bizarre. Especially if they already charged the card. No way I would be handing that information over, seems like just what an identity thief would be looking for...

the part that sucks is, they are the only online retailer to stock the buckles for my Diadoras.

To get them locally I'd have to find a Cannondale dealer(none in Boulder City), convince them to actually order them for me, and then make another trip to Las Vegas to get them.

They did return my irate phone call and tell me they would ship them today, and the other items would come later. I'm ok with that. I can't even wear my road shoes right now, because I bashed my big toe so hard that I could barely walk on it for the last 2 weeks. It hurt so much that I was starting to get back pains from favoring that side of my foot.

they said it was because I was having them shipped to an address that is not my billing address. Some onilne retailers won't do this, but they state it in their checkout process.

FWIW, I didn't need to give them any of the info over the phone, nor did they ask for my SS#.

It sounds like the drop-ship many of the items the list on their website.
