Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Another glove thread...

I would like some summer gloves. Light on the padding, and full finger (I think.)

I've only tried one pair of gloves before: Pearl Izumi Gel Lite gloves...I believe they're now known as Attack gloves, or somesuch nonsense.

They hurt. The gel pads were torture. I've been glove free while pondering and researching.

Winter gloves haven't been a problem for some reason, but the one pair of summer gloves I tried were agony.

I'm looking at Sugoi RS gloves since I've been happy with my other Sugoi products.

Recommendations are appreciated.

Full finger racing in summer is a popular thing in Europe.

Why not try some? My full finger autumn gloves are comfortable...if the fingers on a summer glove are cool and ventilated, AND protect from the sun...what's not to like?

I'm not ruling out fingerless gloves.

I really just want a glove that doesn't hurt.

Where do your hands hurt? How much do you ride? What kind of bar/tape system are you using?

If you've not been riding a lot, your hands are probably just going to hurt for a year or two. If you ride a lot, you need to look into other bar/tape systems. Carbon bars, ergo bars, gel tape, adzorb pads, etc.

You've got to be more specific than just "hurt".

I love the new emoticons.

specialized enduro glove.

I have one myself, 0 padding, wish it had the BG strap layout, but not a big deal if you keep it loose.

i just bought some capoformas (fingerless/half finger) that i really like. i hate spending money on gloves, i seem to kill them quickly (or my golden retriever does for me if he gets a chance) or i'd get some rapha grand tours or some craft elites (really nice and a little more reasonable at around 50$).
i've been riding without mitts for a year or so but on 3+ hour rides the hands start to get a little worked. i also don't want the hands of an 80 year old at 45.

I just got a pair of these new attack gloves. They're mostly identical to the Gel Lites but the Gel Lites are actually a bit lighter in weight and the gel pads are softer than the Attack model.

Gel Lites were my first pair of cycling glove, but I lost them somewhere in the house and nearly bought another pair the other day. I think I prefer the Gel Lites over the Attack. The Attack pads are stiff.

Try some Fox Incline gloves. Just what you want. Full finger, lightweight, no padding. I wear them year round. Here's a pair on eBay, https://cgi.ebay.com/NWT-FOX-Racing-I...QQcmdZViewItem

EDIT: There are numerous pairs of Incline gloves available in eBay stores.

Regards, Anthony

I actually like full-finger gloves, because my half-finger gloves kind of "ride up" between my fingers and really hurt after a while. The fabric between the fingers just kind of digs in. I don't know if that made sense, but it can be pretty annoying.

I ride, at a minimum, my 23 mile round trip commute 4 days a week. Perfectly comfortable with my current bar/tape combo and bare hands.

With the gloves, under the gel pads my hands felt bruised, and the pads seemed to be digging in and punishing them. I don't need gloves to soften the ride...I mostly need them because I can keep a looser grip on the bars with gloves. As I sweat I have to apply a more deliberate grasp so I don't slip.
