Manhattan (NYC) to Long Beach
Hey, I live in Harlem and I want to ride to Long Beach out in Long Island. Any route suggestions?

Here's how I go, but I live in Brooklyn. Starting in Prospect Park:
Exit at Park Circle, go around the circle out to Coney Island Ave. Take CIA 3 or 4 Blocks to Beverly Road, left on Beverly to a right on Rugby, Rugby to left on Foster, Foster to Bedford Ave, Right on Bedford to the end at Emmons Ave, about 4 or 5 miles. Left on Emmons, get on Belt Pkway bike path a blcok BEFORE the ramp onto the parkway, to Flatbush, head south on Flatbush to the Marine Park bridge. After the bridge you're on Rockaway and you can take any road east across the entire peninsula. It is only 4 or 5 blocks wide at any point. Eventually, around Beach 35th st, The A train will veer off to the left and you want to be on Seagirt Blvd to the right, a big wide street that follows the shore. You will eventually see a sign for the Atlantic Beach bridge, walk the bike across, and head east again in Atlantic Beach, and eventually you'll get to the west end of Long Beach.
The alternative is to use the Cross Bay bridge, but that is closed for the summer to bikes. You end up in Rockaway as well. The last option is to head through Queens, but I don't know that way. Check NYCC.org, they may have a route in their ride library.
