Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

CAAD9 105 07 / 08 model differences

Hello,

I'm looking to purchase a CAAD9 105. My local bike shop only has the 07 model (in the liquigas colours). I can order an 08 model from an online store, but usually prefer to visit a local shop.

Does anyone know if there is much / any difference between the 07 / 08 models of this bike (other than the paint job)? Should I just go with the 07 / hold out for the 08 model?

Thanks

Luke

I say go for the 07, I'm assuming you're getting a price break since it's last year's model. They look like they're equipped more or less the same:

Go with the local one.

My 07 CAAD9 came with all Ultegra components except for the crank. I have the Truvativ crank. Looking at the 08 CAAD9 at the LBS today it comes with the 105 Group-set. If that's the case at your LBS I'd certainly get the 07 model. That and I like the 07 paint job better..... I could be a little biased though....

There's no difference between the frames, some of the parts might be different.
Go for last years model, it's a much better bang for the buck for the same thing.

Go for the one with the colors you like best unless there's a discount for 07 that is significant (to you). Myself, I'd pay quite a bit to avoid any sort of team colors, but that's just me.

Better colors in '07.

No difference.

But I don't like riding team color frames...since I don't ride for that team.

No difference in frame except colors, but would think the 07 would give you a break on cost. I got mine 07 in Nov and got $400 off. The Liquigas colors are actually pretty good looking on the bike.

I have a friend who was dying to get a bike in the liquigas colors...he loves them, and he loves that sort of thing.

He ended up getting a CAAD8/R900 off e-bay in an amazing blue color. But he was tripping over himself trying to track down a liquigas frame.

Not really my thing, but I completely understand that it's very appealing to other riders. And it is a nice color scheme...and nicer than the generic '08s.

I think the OP should go for the '07.

Can't find an '07 CAAD frame in those colors...even on Cannondale's website. Maybe I'm just being unobservant.

Here's the Super Six in Liquigas colors though.
