Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Did you lift / ride today

I didn't ride. It was thundering/lightning/raining outside. I'm trying to work forearms right now at my house with some weights. My strength went way down after a break.

I ended up driving to work. Left my tandem there the other night. Also spent just after dawn looking for my canoe. Blew off the dock earlier in the week. Found it flooded up the lake a bit. Probably weighs 1000 lbs flooded! Towed it back by kayak. Then got it drained and out of the water by myself. Didn't feel like riding a bike after that! All before 7:30 am.

I can't lift weights these days. I have an inflammation of the joints (or the cartilage) where the rib cage connects with the sternum. Relatively harmless, but very painful.

And the thunderstorm, rain, and hail put an end to my plans to cycle.

However .... I did walk 2 kms. I try to get in a 2 km walk at lunch every day.

My elbow is slowly recovering from a fracture. I can barely do 10 push ups. No weights for me either.

Rode to work. 1 hour swim during a late lunch, grabbed a sandwich on the way back to the office. Rode home. Heading out for a quick 5K run around the local hills in my neighborhood a little later after eating; I don't mind running in the dark. Riding over to Mill Valley and up Mt Tam tomorrow afternoon, perhaps a swim in aquatic park in the morning. Sunday, dunno... maybe a 10mi run in the morning. Never lift weights.

today was my second rest day in a row, and much needed.
the next 4 will include around 150 miles and a strength training session in the gym.

I rode today. 35 miles and 2500 feet of climbing. Then I put on my running shoes and ran another 2.3 miles. Hooray triathlon training.
