Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I usually ride GP4000s and I really do like them. They are pretty fast, light and very puncture resistant. But... the Vittoria Corsas are incredibly fast and much smoother. The difference is very noticable to me. I switched out both tires and was instantly riding faster, rolling faster. They weight a little bit more than the contis but it doesnt seem to matter. So I am going to ride the vittorias in the alleycat race tomorrow and jujst hope for no punctures.

I've only ridden Corsa EVO CX and Vredestein Fortezzas and the Corsas blew the Fortezzas away; better grip cornering and in wet weather, better feel, etc. But after about 1,500 miles they really start getting knicked up, esp. if you live in a city area with glass everywhere.

I'm trying out Vittoria Open Pave CGs this weekend hopefully. I can tell you from just comparing side-by-side, the Open Paves have a much thicker sidewall than the Corsas and thicker tread pattern. These might be the right compromise between ride and durability.

Have ridden Fortezzas; not the biggest fan. They are a bit slower than Vit. Corsas and don't grip as well, esp. in the wet. I've fishtailed a bit a few times in the rain, even when not really pressing down hard on the rear brake; never happened on the Corsas. They are a bit more durable though than Corsas. You will still get gashes if you run over a big piece of glass or a nail but you won't get the type on knicks that you get on Corsas.

I'd rather pay a $5 more for a better tire but that's just me.
