Kenmare, Ireland Bike Rental Recommendations??
Heading over to Kenmare for 7 days and would like to
rent, ideally, a road bike...I've Googled and searched
here and found Finnegans, but nothing else...I'll have
a car, so, I could drive a bit to get the rental...any
experience, recommendations out there??? Thanks!!!

Bike hire in Ireland isn't that great. In general you'll get places offering hybrids or heavier, flat bar tourer type bikes. I've yet to hear of a place that rents road bikes. Kenmare, although a popular tourist spot, is still a pretty small town, so your options might be fairly limited.
I'll be down in that part of the world myself on July 5 to do the annual Ring of Kerry ride.

Have fun with the Ring of Kerry ride; it looks like 112 miles of coolness.
Do you suppose taking the car over to Cork or Killarney and looking
there might help me find a road bike rental? I'm staying in the Shannon
Airport area the first night and could conceivably rent from there too.
Or, is it the case in general that it is tough to find a road bike rental?
I guess a hybrid would be better than not riding at all. Assuming I don't
find a road bike rental, would the shops renting touring-like bikes be
cool with me using my own pedals? I'm planning on bringing them and
my own wrench :-)
Thanks again.

The only bikes I've managed to rent in Ireland were the hybrid types. But it's better then nothing if you can't bring your bike. Kenmare is beautiful.

Thanks jfmckenna...I guess I'll survey the scene when I get there and
do the hybrid thing...Go n-éirí an bóthar leat! (hey, first try at Gaelic,
hope it translates properly)...we're looking forward to Kenmare.
