Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

First batch of s4.0s went out, anyone get them?

Going to get a pair in the second batch when they come out beginning of July. Was looking at the website today and noticed they updated the s4.0 page with an actual picture! And raised all the prices :<

Anyone have any opinions or thoughts on the batch that just went out (did you pay the lower or new higher price too?)

I think he raised all his prices. Seems to reflect a trend in the market this year, all the prices have gone up.

Those wheels look incredible though...

general economic Climate has made all of our wholesale pricing go up considerably. It is more specific I have notice to products made of carbon fiber. some manufactures are trying to find way to survive in this market and other's like ITM simply liquidate. It is a very difficult market for us Highend retailers and a very good market for the shops that carry a less customer specific product. Where I am the summer is too hot even tho gas pricing is very high you would risk your health riding in 110-115 degrees in work attire.

However in better climates I imagine LBSs are doing very well.

? 30mm wheel is noticeable to you? Weird. Is the website www.bikesoul.com ? I've never heard of these guys before, but the wheels looks sweet with a great price.

Yep that's the website. They get suggested around here a bit. Not many actual ride reports on them though. The S4.0s that already came out should be in someone's hands; they all sold out quickly. So someone must like them!

I have ridden them for 1 month plus, and its really very smooth and durable. Ride through plenty of pot holes including some small curbs and its still stay true. Easily maintain high speed of above 37km/h and though heavier but it hide its weight well. Can't really feel the weight, accelerating and climbing isn't a problem too. Its value for $ and as i stay in singapore, reliability is not a problem for me as Sean of soul bike can be reached easily. However so far, i didn't have to go back to him. Cross wind is not a problem for me though for lighter rider might be?
Conclusion : Performs well,Durable,Stiff and Smooth at a Reasonable price
