Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

narrowed my pedal choices down

ok so ive narrowed my pedal choices down to 2 as there doesnt seem to be anything else in the 260g category at this price...

is this just a matter of brand loyalty now? help me choose one or the other. the Keo Sprints are definitely a couple of bucks cheaper.

if not any of these then please list why. thanks for your time guys n gals!

dura-ace spd-sl @ pbk ... 281g but its better.

cro-mo look keo spindles have poor design that leads to catestrophic failure (we had a rider break one on a climb... one of our mechanical engineer grad students took a look at it).

Time pedals and long since resolved. And why not consider the Time RXE pedal? It's not that big a difference in the weight department, but a whole lot less expensive ($70'ish if you look).

Keo, Speedplay and Shimano pedals are probably the most well known pedals here in the States, it's just the smarter, smaller segment of the population that uses the Time stuff.

Without knowing what kind of riding you are doing, there is no way to recommend a specific pedal. Are you a racer? If not, then why are you looking at racing pedals?

i am no racer. i am a daily commuter on the weekdays with weekends doing about 30ish+ miles (not city) with my friends for fun. given that, i dont have to be a racer to want lighter/quality stuff. perhaps anything will oust the nylon test pedals ive been using so far for 3 months now....

my budget is those two pedals listed. from my limited research i have found that those two pedals give the most bang for the weight/buck

I would not choose the Keo as a commuter pedal, the clip in process gets pretty tedious after a while.

Check out Speedplay light action.

For commuting, double-sided walkable pedals make much more sense than racing pedals.

If you're getting pedals for commuting, then I'd actually get a pair of Ritchey Logic Pro V4 Mountain

SPD compatible, double-sided entry so they're easy to get into, and pretty cheap. I road these for a while on my Fuji.

well if im commuting and using the bike as a daily rider, i woudlnt even be wearing clipless shoes. just my regular sandals and go...

the keo looks seem to be pretty flat on the underside. would actually be perfect. even though its a smallish pedaling platform

You can get reasonable mountain bike shoes that you can walk around in since the cleats would be recessed in the soles if you use SPDs.

bought some rxe's a few weeks ago.. They work just as well as the rxs pedals I have.. I sent all my time pedals back under recall.. Had them back in about a week..

The RXE's I bought are not subject to the recall.. CBO has them at a good price.
