Too lenient i think. WTF are you doing driving a car when you have seizures? Not fair. LIFE!

Way too lenient. He took a life. A life that can never be returned. He wasn't taking his meds, which contributed to it. That's even worse.

I didn't think Deputy James Council would get charged, but I hope he fries for negligently killing Matt Peterson and Kristy Gough:

more on the story
being a tennessean i know a little more about the story. the driver hit and run. after he hit jeff he then ran into another car and kept going. he then ran into another car before finally coming to a stop. witnesses said he was weaving from median to shoulder prior to running jeff down. jeff was on the shoulder according to those witnesses. he got what he deserved. having a medical condition (seizures) is no excuse for hitting someone. if you cant afford your medication then stay the hel! off the road...

Eight years in a federal prison???
Don't you think those places should be reserved for repeat and violent offenders?
Mr.Carroll should not have been driving...yes.
He should not have had a government issued driver's licence...yes.
Mr.Carroll should not have to spend time in federal prison.
Future driving privileges revoked...yes.
Time served in a community program...sure.

If he continued afterwards, that's another thing and deserves more than 8 years in my opinion. Or was this just one big pinball run while the guy was incapacitated ala Santa Monica Farmer's Market style?

It's hard to determine what a like is worth in terms of jail time. My comment would be why do people like this continue to drive? Obviously a medical condition that he knew about. The excuse that he couldn't afford the meds doesn't cut it. There had to other alternatives. What he decided was that his driving a car was more important than the lives of other motorists, cyclists and pedestrians on the public ways. For every excuse he could give for why he had to drive his car, if you came up with an alternative, he would have another excuse or reason to take it's place.

I don't feel that it is the governments job to make people take pills (in fact i find this to be a bad thing), It is your job not to kill people, this guy failed.
I wish he got more than 8, but at least this is somewhat putting a foot down, more than countless other instances.
Federal prison can be filled with people caught with trans state money laundering, and drug dealing... i certainly feel like it is worthy of killers
