"Tour" Specials

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

"Tour" Specials

OK...so I'm at a local Performance 2 nights ago and they have a sign in the entrance saying "Vive le Tour!" followed by a "Special" at the bottom of the sign: Some crappy Mountain Bike tire.

Then today I open my inbox on my personal mail and decide to check out Colorado Cyclists "Tour Specials"

....2 of the 3 items are for mountain Biking.

- do these guys just not get it?

Feeling sort of "literal" today are you?

When your LBS has 4th of July specials, are they offering fireworks?

Just seems kind of silly to celebrate the world's most popular road stage race as a company that sells road bikes....by offering mtn bike specials.

I guess they figure all of us roadies are off riding, racing, or watching the tour. Kind of like a "Hey hippies....the roadies are busy because of the tour. Come on in and celebrate. This camelback is GREAT! Tons of pockets to put your weed in"

Perhaps they are after the average "mountain" bike owning customer using a race they aren't watching...or maybe they just don't get it.

It's called "advertising" and I think you might be expecting a bit much from the creative minds that are drawn to that particular vocation, particularly at the local level.

But see, they call it "le burrito." Adding a "le" makes it French. And it has everything to do with cycling, I am sure.

MY LBS is giving out 20% store credit off the price of what ever bike wins that days stage, if a Specilized wins today and you go buy a Specialized you get a store credit of 20% of what the bike cost. Pretty good deal to me.

If you "eat what the team eats" then you get to pay extra for your guacamole just like the team does. he.
