Entry Level Wheel Question. Jalco vs. Mavic Aksium
All,
The bike I purchased ( Specialized Allez Elite) came with a brand of rims I have never heard of. Who knows of these Jalco GX460? I have a friend that has a new set mavic aksiums with aout 100 miles on them. I can not find weights or quality info for the jalcos but I am pretty sure this would be a minor upgrade. Anyone agree?

What are you trying to accomplish? Those Jalcos are the kind of wheel that manufacturers use because they are cheap. The Aksium is a better reputed wheel but other than perceived better quality and probably blingier looks, I'm not sure what you'll gain.
If it's weight you're wondering about, you can do is strip your Jalco's wheels of their tires/tubes/cassette and then weigh them. At least that gives you a metric by which to compare.

just trying to find out if it is worth switching to the mavics. 150 seems to be a good buy.
