Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

how much are used 9 sp DA/Ultegra components worth?

Instead of spending a lot of money on new components, I am considering buying some used shifters and derallieurs for my 2007 allez elite. Right now it is all 9 sp tiagra but a 105 rear.

a few questions,

1) how much do you think used 9 sp DA shifters and DA fd and Ultegra rd should be (assume in good but used condition)

2) would it be worth doing some or part of this assuming your price in part 1? i.e. all 3 parts or no fd or no r/d since it's already 105? I'm mostly interested in crispier shifting.

They aren't worth much at all: https://www.bikeforums.net/showpost.p...postcount=8622
Edit: I'll admit that the deal I got was ridiculous, especially since all the hipsters are way into Bianchi here, and it's summer. Even so, don't spend too much on it and it might be a better deal to buy the whole lot on a bike and transfer if you are so inclined.

Save for 105 10 or Ultegra 10 when the price drops come, as buying 9 speed is becoming less and less fashionable as the weeks go by.

If you really want something that isn't as old as what you have now, you could always scour Ebay for a Ultegra 6500 group or components.

I've seen a few Dura-Ace bits around as well. Cost will be dependent on what else is being sold and the condition it is in, but will likely be from $20-$70 for the dérailleurs and at least $100 for the shifters.

Maybe $90-130? Check Ebay. Is there any way you could just buy the shifters and RD? I wouldn't make upgrading the FD a high priority.

If you find a right dura ace 9 spd shifter cheap PM me for the love of god. Mine broke and I don't know what to do with myself.

I was looking for just one used right hand 9 speed DA 7700 shifter earlier last winter on Ebay and finally gave up because I never saw them going under $125 for one lousy, used shifter. I have an Ultegra 6500 shifter on there now that works fine, albeit it doesn't match the rest of my 7700 components. I probably should have continued to look this summer when there were more bike parts changing hands on Ebay, but the bike shifts fine with the mismatched shifters and I have ceased to think about it until you just brought it up!

Anyway, last winter it looked like a fairly expensive proposition to buy 7700 parts, bit by bit, on Ebay---more expensive than it was a couple of years ago.

I'm in the single Ultegra shifter boat as well. It works great so I'll keep it on until it explodes like a carbon fiber bike.
