...or what about a home bike locker?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

...or what about a home bike locker?

I don't have a garage, but do have a yard.

Does anyone have any experience getting their own little bike garage (aka bike locker)?

I've seen several online, does anyone have any experience ordering their own?

I've had bikes stolen out of a locked back yard shed. I would imagine a bike locker wouldn't be much more safe.

ouch. sorry to hear that.

did they just break the lock?

i'm thinking i may just use it for the commuter bikes, and still keep the roadies indoor.

It's ancient history, back when I was a teenager. They cut the lock and took, if I remember right, three bikes. They left my mom's Ross three speed which now just sits unlocked on the back porch under a tarp and has yet to be stolen, so maybe a 30 year old Ross ladies town bike is your best bet.

For commercial use, the bike lockers make a lot of sense. You pay them money, they drop off a product you can put in place with little effort that looks reasonably well made. However, for home use, I imagine it would be more secure to build your own. No enclosure will be 100% secure, but you could make a lockable wood box that would keep your bike safe from the casual thief. If you planned it properly, you could even avoid the two minute "cut of the lock" problem huerro mentioned (through hasp design and lock selection).

yeah. i've been pondering that. i could even put a deadbolt on it. (not that those are unbeatable, either).

and this way it would look way better.

i don't really want to do it as a "permanent improvement" because if I have to sell the house, it may seem less than desirable (it will actually be taking up a car parking spot inside a fenced-in yard. but i guess i could just use a plywood floor and keep it off the ground with some 4x4 or something.

does anyone else have any experience doing this?
