DIET: The Healthy Breakfast Shake

fair weather cyclist
My breakfast: Eggs, toast, OJ, banana.
On a related note to "shakes" - I have been drinking this organic chocolate milk during the day and it really curbs my desire for junk food - ice cream based milk shakes, cookies, etc... It has less fat and protein and potassium, fewer calories too, than what I would end up eating in junk food.

I've never seen this stuff for sale on its own, but I agree with your aftertaste claims. My favorite whey protein (MRM brand) uses stevia as its sweetener, and it really is excellent with no aftertaste. I've had proteins that use sucralose, some that use ace-k, and I was still able to detect that "artificial" taste.
Where do you get stevia powder?

Well even with tons of riding some of us gain weight very very easily. Besides personally I like shakes, as a replacement for that afternoon ice cream snack or whatnot. For breakfast I preffer oatmeal thought. Seems like if I do a shake I am starving by 10 am.

Why do you guys on diet if you're biking everyday at least 20 miles?
I thought the point of the road biking is eating good food that is enjoyable.
The drinking or eating the shakes I don't how call it better is buzzard. It's lot more up there for breakfast.

If I know, to restore your body pro-athletes (football, hockey and may be bikers) are eating meat (beef or veal). Also to supplement your vitamin balance you can take a vitamin peals.

Frozen berry's (your choice, I use blueberry's) vanilla yogurt, vanilla soymilk, whey protien. The ice cream, low fat or not, is still mostly fat.

On another note: Does anyone notice that when you eat any sort of non-healthy snack (like ice cream or cookies, etc), you get more tempted to continue eating in that pattern?
I think that's what happened to me, but I'm pretty curious about that.

this tastes like a milkshake:
8 oz 8th continent light soy milk
scoop of whey protein
scoop of whole ground flax seed/ground steel cut oats
1/2 banana
3-4 large frozen strawberries
handful frozen blueberries
shot of orange juice

This usually makes a pretty big shake, so I typically have half for breakfast and the other half as an afternoon snack.
• 1 cup of mixed frozen berries (raspberry, strawberry & blueberry)
• 2 Tbls Organic 2% pro-biotic yogurt, plain
• 5 Tbls Hemp Hearts
• 1 Tbls Salba
• 1 scoop of Nu-Greens profile powder
• 1 scoop of glutamine powder
• 3/4 cup of water
Covers all the bases, no GI spikes, easy to digest, loads of fiber and really tasty.
