Took a chance and got on the bike tonight....AMAZING
So this has been a pretty depressing week as far as trying to finally get a handle on my medical condition (for those of you that have talked to me about it). I've stayed away from riding just because of the light headiness I tend to get afterwards that aggravates my dizziness for a few days after I ride.
I couldn't take it anymore though and went out and did 20 miles with a good solid climb, I felt stronger than I thought I would and kept a average of 17 mph. It's not where I was at before I started feeling this way but it's not half bad. This ride really got my motivation up, I think riding is the only thing keeping my head up; or more accurately, the idea of riding.
ALSO I tried Chamois Butter tonight for the first time...good god...where have you been all my life.

Yah, it's the most bizzare thing I've ever experienced in my life, i mean the week before it happened I was running in the morning at least 4 miles 5 days a week before work then doing at least 50-60 miles on the bike on the weekend and some random riding in the week (wasn't too hot on riding at that point). I had just completed my first century after only 4 or so months of riding road bikes, I was feeling amazing, and it all fell apart.
Well one day at a time. I'm off to the neurologist in the next 2 weeks and back to the ear nose and throat (who was the worst doctor I've ever dealt with in my life!). Thanks for the support!

Hmm hopefully your issues are as simple as super-dehydration, always glad to see anyone's bicycling stoke-o-meter on the high.

Just wait till he tries it while riding!
Just kidding! Good luck with getting the medical condition straightened out, and I hope you're back to training full time soon.

photonick,
so I had the same exact problem as you a couple months ago. All of a sudden I was completely dizzy for no reason at all. I saw all sorts of doctors; primary care, ear nose and throat, neurologists, etc. They did all sorts of tests on me including an MRI and found absolutely nothing. However, by the time I scheduled all these tests, etc., the feeling got milder and milder. A month later, the feeling was barely noticeable and eventually went away.
All I can say is that it is quite possible you got some kind of virus that got into your head and messed with your equilibrium.
I have a question though. When you are standing up, do you lose your balance very easily? If the room is spinning when you are standing still, you may have a case of vertigo, but if your balance is off and you have lightheadedness, I am guessing that will go away after some time.
Hope that helps.
