too many peanuts after the ride
Ok so after my ride today I was hungry and the only thing in the house was a big jar of mixed nuts. I chowed down, and now I am definitely not feeling very well... the reason why I am still awake now.
Seriously... dont eat a half jar of nuts in like 2 minutes... not good for you.. I am still feeling the consequences and it is 5 hours later...

If I were to do that with peanuts, I'd look like I was about 8.5 months pregnant and feel like I was going to die.
2 or 3 peanuts maybe 2 or 3 times a year is about my limit.

i did the same thing with a can of olives the other day. i went on a really long ride and returned home starving. I got desperate and ate a can of black olives, a cucumber, and some almonds. Felt like hell for 3 hours or so after.

I've been known to eat a bunch of peanuts after a ride. I find it's pretty heavy on the digestion though. I think it's because peanuts are both fat and high protein. That's slow to digest. Nowadays, I don't eat any protein foods right after a ride, only later at the next meal. I eat calories, and I particularly like fruit bar type popsicles after a ride.

A nurse told me that after heavy exercise and therefore possible dehydration, you are much more susceptible to allergen.

Nuts usually bother my gut after a ride. I've learned to avoid them for a few hours.

I think its the fat that's making you feel ill if your not allergic to them. Assuming you ate half of a 16 ounce jar of peanuts, you just ate about 110 grams of fat. Which is about the same amount of fat in 3 Big Macs from McDonalds.
