Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

jamis is a relatively small company but at the same time, they are able to utilize people a lot better. The new Allegro 3X - Performance Mix, is a result of small companies. They can send two or three persons to develop a product, and if they didn't get a right product they can always just shrink back and reabsorb those two to three persons.

My dad owned two Jamis bikes and seemed to like them very much. They were hybrids but still seemed like solid bikes. I'd buy one if I had the $$$

No problems with mine. Look at a Specialized with the same components, Jamis is a great value.

If you like a particular bike get it. you will always find people who do not like a particular brand of bike. some people will swear by it some will curse it. i have a friend who has a jamis and he has even biffed it on a turn and it works great for him. jamis is a good quality bike!

Your LBS is paid to sell the brands they carry. Find a Jamis dealer and ride some of their bikes and make the decision yourself! After test riding something like 15 bikes I found a great deal on a Jamis Satellite when I was looking for an entry-level bike and I don't regret my purchase at all. It's a solid, great handling bike. It seems Jamis doesn't do the best paint jobs, but that's an okay compromise in my opinion.

Jamis is an awesome bike manufacturer.

Those people at the LBS are on, ah, eh, crack. Go somewhere unbiased for bike help if they try to steer away just cuz.
