    :D 25/28-622 Rim, can i use 23c tyres?

    Hey all,

Basically the old tyres on my 2nd hand road bike have crumbled so im looking for new ones, the strip on the inside of the rim reads 25/28-622 which i gather means it takes 700 tyres with width's of 25c or 28c, now my problem is that most of the road tyres i'm finding (particularly for a good price) are 23c, would these fit ok?

    Thanks

    Tom

Could you measure the inside of the rim in mm? From wall to wall. Most road wheels today are 14 or 15mm wide.

You would definitely be on the max for a 17mm wide rim (measured between braking surfaces) but according to this it should work. You would be some where in between those two measurements.

So according to that you could run a 23c on a 20mm at maximum stretch and comfortably on a 16mm and mine is between those 2?

this is the incorrect way to measure rim width.
you want to measure the inside of it from wall to wall. (except in this case the rim width is printed on the sticker 622x19)

Food for thought: if you aren't dead by 2050, you and your entire family will be within a few years from starvation. Now that is a cruel gift to leave for your offspring. ;)
