Colnago CLX - fishy price?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Colnago CLX - fishy price?

Interweb Bike Experts,

A regional bike store claims they are selling a new Colnago CLX frameset for $1899, no headset. The bike is priced at $2899 MSRP on Colnago's site and at Competitive Cyclist.

A $1000 price difference sounds incredible, but I'm having doubts.

What are your thoughts on this huge price difference?

Colnago's site shows the MSRP, as does Competitive Cyclist, who sell everything at MSRP, anyway.

Colnago E1's used to retail for over $3500 USD, while they can now be found for less than $2500 USD.

I wouldn't be surprised if the CLX has met the same closeout fate.

Additional question:

I have a 58 cm Specialized Roubaix. I've read a post here on BF saying that there is a huge difference between the CLX sloping/curved frame and the traditional bike frames. I'm trying to figure out what a 58cm Roubaix frame would be equivalent in a Colnago CLX. Any suggestions/comments are welcome.

A 58cm Specialized Roubaix frame has a 582mm toptube with a 215mm headtube. The equivalent Colnago CLX size would be the 57cm, with a 582mm toptube and a 183mm headtube.

Depending on the stem and how many spacers you have now, the Colnago CLX will have a lower handlebar position than the Roubaix.
