when does Trek cycle their road bike models?
Hi all,
I am interested in a Trek 1.5, but I am not looking to spend $900 for it new. But, at the same time I would like to buy new for the warranty, the fitting, etc. So, I was wondering when Trek cycles their road bikes for new models, such that maybe the week the new models come in I could purchase one of the old models for cheaper yet still new. Has anyone done this?
Thanks!
George

the new models are officially released in late august.
spend a few more dollars and get the 2.1, for the 100 extra dollars its a world of different bike.

The 09 1.5 is already out. In fact, most sizes of the 08 1.5 are not even available.
Pricing depends on the bike shop, but currently most shops are updating prices of the '08 models to match the prices of the '09 models (note that the price did not increase, but maybe some shops are selling the bike at high retail versus low retail for '09).
I'd spring for the new 2.1 in Astana blue/white. Its a better bike for your dollar, but what do I know?

I bought an '05 at a year old price in September of '05. You should be able to as well if you look around. What city will your bike shop be in?

The '08 Bikes are actually already sold out (from Trek). A few may still be floating around at the dealers. They released the the '09 bikes early on a few models due to HUGE demand this year. I ordered an '09 for a client of one of my salespeople's the other day. We put it together and I must say I am very impressed with the paint.
As with all years the Major launch is always at Trek World in August (Trek's version of Interbike, they throw there own).
As for pricing the prices to the dealers are going up do to material cost increases and shipping costs. I dunno where the person above me a few posts is pulling those numbers from, but the email I got from the National Sales Manager of Trek says otherwise. Trek took it in the pants for the last half of '08 to not kill the dealers, but they have to normalize for '09. I dont know of any brand that isnt experiencing this. Such is the damage we deal with these insane oil prices, they are even affecting our bikes! We cant escape it!
Most importantly, get one you like and enjoy it!
