Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The weight of my bike will never be slight, by virtue of the fact that I am 6'4". My frame will 200g heavier, my stem will be bigger, my fork tube will be bigger. Pretty much lame. Of course, weight weenism is pretty lame too. So I guess I'll just go for an aero bike!

Got a buddy who is right around your height and his Orca comes in at 15.8 pounds, not too bad.

I think people who gripe about other people's interests is pretty lame, too.
I don't really hear weight weenies poking fun at people who are not weight weenies, unprovoked.
Leave it alone, be happy with what you've got or are into. We're happy you've got interests. We've got interests too. Leave it be.

I'm training for a tour, had 12 extra pounds in my panniers. Bike weighed over 40 pounds. So how much does yours weigh.

>40 pounds for touring is reasonable. I really don't know, I have no interest at this time in doing any touring/randonneuring. However, recently met a couple from Iran that are riding around the world on their bicycles, and took a little "lift test" to see their weights. That being said, they were around 35-40 at a guess. She carried the clothes/tent, he carried the heavier loads of laptop, foods, water, tool kits, etc:.

My current primary ride is just over 16lbs. Steel/carbon mix, with a total budget (purchase+rebuild) of $2k. By comparison, a Colnago C50, stock in a local shop, sells at over $6,000 on sale and is a bit over 16.5lbs. Achieved by being a weight weenie, doing my research, and having interest in this sort of thing. Just like you're interested in touring. Good for you!

Something I'm slowly working on is looking to be just over 13lbs at this point, with doubts that I can bring it any lower without being stupid with my budget, so it'll stay at a targeted 13lbs.

You asked.
