Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Did that last night - still not sure if it was the right thing to do. considering I changed the stem from a 90mm to a 120mm this morning, I think I need to move it back again.

Still thinking I could have done with one size smaller on the frame though.

90 to 120mm is a huge change. If you're new to cycling you really should get some guidance on your fit.

Love the color/aesthetic of the Dogma frame. The cockpit looks wonky, and it would look it's best with more saddle to bar drop. With a good cockpit arrangement and a more finalized setup, it would be very pretty.

The S2 looks about ideal (hot).

I don't know about the rotation of the bars. These are easton bars and in that position you already feel you have no flat on the drops - it's rising up hill all the way. They are a different shape from anything else I've ever ridden.

I agree with you about the frame colour, but I was locked on to the Dogma and it was either this colour or white and violet (low stocks of this bike remaining).

Wheels are a bit colourful I suppose

And no offence taken - if I didn't want to hear peoples opinions I wouldn't post pictures of it on the forum.
yeah the seat height. but as you are saying, it sounds like you have a short lower half which explains it. It may be the right set up for you, I'm just saying "asthetically" speaking, it doesn't look hot. But thats not to take away from what works. what works for one and what looks hot/professional are two different things. You have to ride what works for your geometry. look below at the cervelo, thats probably higher than a lot of cyclist, but the seat height compared to the height of the bars makes it look much more aggressive.

Just got this last Tuesday. My LBS is awesome and helped me out with a faulty frame. The previous frame was a black Amira with "limeade" accents which I loved but it had issues the entire season so this is my new Amira. Sorry, too lazy to take the bag off for a photo.

Now you've got me worried that I posted something when I'd had too many beers I'm no pro or even a fast cyclist, but I've been cycling a while.

You are right it's a big change, but the bike shop gave me a 90mm Easton alloy stem for me to ride until I decided what size I needed, after which I get the carbon easton stem I paid for in the size I ask for. I'm coming from a bigger frame with a 70mm stem. Turns out I need a 120mm on this thing.

The seat height for the above Cervelo is only for the picture purpose, I don't think anyone would ride in that position on a regular basis, unless on your racing day, you just can't ride long with your back bend down this much.

You should have them fit you and suggest what stem size. Did they not at least do a basic fit when you bought your bike? If your saddle is in the right place, you should ask about a zero set back seat post (I don't know if they make one, but it would work better the way you have the bike set up).

IMO a good fitting is very much worth the money if you end up having to pay for it. Good luck and enjoy your bike.

just because a picture shows a large saddle to bar drop doesn't mean that the personal looks abnormal on their bike. he has longer arms and has a more flexible back than most of you with your saddles level to your handlebars. also the compact geometry makes the drop look more extreme because there's more seatpost showing.

it just means he has different proportions from you. He may have extremely long arms for his body. It may not have anything to do with flexibility. I posted my BMC a couple of pages back, and while the drop isn't as extreme as the Cervelo's drop, it still has a substantial saddle to bar drop. I am not at all flexible. I actually can't touch my toes. If I stand and bend over, my palms hit at my knees and I can't go any further, yet my bike is extremely comfortable to me.

You said, "I don't think anyone would ride in that position on a regular basis". It may be your opinion, but it's still wrong.

Most of the time I spent looking at this Bridgestone was trying to figure out this very issue. The 2nd and 3rd pics are quite nicely done, but in the 1st pic you can see where the item beneath the non-drive side pedal was photoshopped out. Nice touch.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I am still not done with the S2, I never am really. It will definitely look a little different soon. Getting another lighter set of bars, and a lighter stem. I want to change my inner chainring to a black one as well. It's about 14.4lbs in this pic, and it's 13.5lbs on the 404 tubies. I've got some ideas on how to get another 1/2lb off of it. When I went with the compact bars, the longer stem was really needed. It is so comfortable now it's ridiculous, plus I have a nice bit of room up front to really get low in a sprint, and put the power down.

You pretty much nailed it. I have a relatively short torso, and I am all arms, and legs. The sloping top tube does exaggerate the drop. If you use the lines of the siding on the side of my house for a reference point, it isn't all that big of a drop. It's only like 5". My training/crit bike has a level top tube, one size up (56cm) frame, and it doesn't look as extreme, but it is actually 1/2" lower, and with the standard curve bars, it is even more in the drops.

I need a new pic of this bike too. It has a newer Force RD, and a Force Compact crankset now, plus I drilled a bunch of holes in the bottle cages now.

Also yes, I ride these bikes a lot. Despite breaking my collarbone in a crash this year. I still am somewhere north of 5k miles for the year.
