Thanks for posting close up picks of your Seven. I knew the welds would be clean but really wanted to see the finish because I always wondered about the Seven matte finish.

P.S. I am thinking about getting a Seven Axiom with internal DA9790 DI2 wiring and hidden battery next year. Not to hijack the thread, but it seems that the your Seven's finish is the equivalent of my Lynskey Helix OS's hand brushed or bright brushed finish - are the brush strokes all unidirectional? Lynskey says that they hand brush the frame with a 3M scotch-bright pad and thus any touch up finishing by the owner can be done the same way. Does Seven say how they achieve their finish?

Yup, Seven calls it "satin finish", but it's basically done with fine grade 3M Scotch Brite pads (red ones).

Seven is a good choice. When I was considering different Ti frame builders, Seven and Lynskey were head-to-head for my decision. Then Seven won out because their normal process is itself custom, so I wasn't going to miss that opportunity. Except for the customization, I'm sure both are equal.

I was actually trying to get orange decals, but they would have to be custom made and I'd have to shell out more. I saw a pic online in which the bar tape and the tires were this color, and i really loved it.

I know, the bottle cages were not my first choice, but the LBS was out of stock for stainless steel ones. And then somebody suggested matching up the red decal with a red cage and the black in the crank and rim with the black cage. But I think the stingrays are pretty cute!

the way colnagos are often pictured are as so:





it appears you've got a more traditional bend handlebar which should result in the bottom level of the drops being parallel to the ground and the hoods further up before the bend. being in the bottom of the drops in that set up will put your hands at a 45º angle which maybe difficult to climb from the drops in.

its a matter of preference though... if its comfortable then its all good.

you could go with some ergo sti friendly bars which keep the flat plane from stem and hoods then bend more abruptly so the bottom of the drops remain parallel to the ground:



either way your bike is hot. I'm starting to hate on people who mandate that Colnago must have campy. its borderline bigotry... what about willer or piranello must those italian frames be outfitted with campy?

I think the majority of colnago bikes at one point were outfitted with chris king headsets....loyalty to italian branding be damned when something else works even better.

what about the fact that colnago officially offers its top spec'd models in dura ace/di2 and sram red?!




if colnago seems it fit to put sram/shimano/ect on their bikes...

I don't mind the quarq with Ultegra Di2 but I hate seeing Di2 on a non-Di2 specific frame. The rest of the build looks solid besides the bar setup.

It's possible. My tibial tuberosity was measured to be 20mm behind pedal spindle w/ 52mm of setback at 770mm seat height.

I actual didn't even think to take it. If I'm ever by the shop again, I'll try to grab a weight.

here's my current build. 2001 GT ZRX. one of the first true production cross bikes. took a little love and attention to bring it back to life. its former owner used it as their crap weather rain bike and it was covered in dust and mud after sitting with flat tires and unused for two years....cleaned up pretty well. hot?? probably not. cheap? yes!! fun too.

Had a Ron Cooper come into our co-op as a donation this past week and it also has Sugino Mighty cranks along with a first gen Dura Ace (hubs, headset, brakes) and first gen Cyclone (shifters, derailleurs) combo for parts.

I have been building mine back up with period correct Campagnolo parts and have some Record high flange hubs on Mavic tubular rims I need to glue up... will keep the Zeus brakes as there aren't many better than these titanium center pulls. Seems like the Mighty was an incredibly popular crank choice, I know it was lighter than just about any other crank from that era.

Today's project was to rebuild my custom built Moulden XC back up after powder coating...
