Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I think I want to go to black tape...red was the only thing I had in the garage and the old black stuff was trashed. And if I do that, not sure about the white saddle.

I'd put the black saddle back on, but regardless...Much gooder!

Some of us need short stems. I am one that does.

Thanks. It's a 53 and I have a 32 inch inseam. Standover height seems to be perfect. My issue is that I have a relatively short torso and wingspan, plus I like riding in a relaxed position. I am trying to increase my bend at the waist, which should allow me to eventually either move the saddle back, increase the stem length, or maybe both. I've had reach issues with every bike that I've owned, and I've tried 52, 53, and 54. Maybe someday I'll invest in a custom build.

Doesn't look too crazy. A zero setback post would help, and the stem could be longer with some newer shifters with shorter reach. Frame looks pretty small, not sure stock ones get much smaller with 700c wheels.

It's pretty warm.

You should not be trying to fix reach with saddle position.

I didn't even think of it that way!!! But really...not so much, the black post to match the black stem and bars. Maybe keep the white saddle and do white Fizik tape??? I dunno...don't get me wrong, I like it this way, but I love the opinions and feedback. A lot of very good rides here lately.

Just giving you a hard time! It this only place we get away with it.

I use white Fizik tape on 3 of my bikes, I like the feel, & it cleans up easy/nicely.
Have you thought about half white/red?

Matching cages is the only thing I can find, maybe black hoods, although I find the reds work in this case.
I'm a Shimano fan boi, but SRAM Red would fit this build perfectly.

not for me....

go black tape, saddle, and tires...then it might have a chance, with proper staging etc...

Have you thought about dropping spacers and getting a 6 deg stem? Obviously not something necessary, just making conversation about the bike. Those bar ends are pointed fairly far up also.

I've thought about going black hoods and red tape but thought it could be way too much red. Might look into that mix you are talking about since I have never seen it. The fizik I have is that double tape which I like but might be going a little bit more minimalist next time.

Tell me about it! I've dreamt of putting RED on this bike but cant get rid of the shimano. Already did Quarq powermeter and I believe I went one step too south on front shifting quality. Not that there is anything wrong with SRAM but I like the buttery feeling of the shimanos.

To be honest I am not sure what a 6 degree stem is... I appologize for my noobness. I'm super picky when it comes to fitting and sizing. Just changing the saddle angle and depth was enough to give me a little heart attack but figured you guys were right. I'll have to look into those stems. Feel free to educate me please.

Next up in changes are:

Black Specialized Romin Pro saddle (get rid of those Ti rails for some nice and thick carbon ones)
MAYBE: Di2 upgrade... not sure or 7900 Dura ace FD and RD.

After those two things I was thinking maybe carbon stem and bars.

My guess is you have a 17deg stem which is flipped. You have a high stack and a stem that is very level. If you had a 6 degree stem it wouldn't be as flat. Therefore you could take out some spacers and have more of an angled stem which would put your bars in roughly the same position/height. Like i said, it is not something necessary, but aesthetically, I PERSONALLY prefer seeing a 6 deg. Since your top tube has such a slope, I think a 6deg would LOOK better in my very personal opinion. There are a lot of folks that love the look of a 17deg stem.

If you look at my stem compared to yours, you can see that it has more of a rise and yours is more flat.

I was going to say the same thing. Having a -17º stem gives you an end result of 0º rise, but makes it look like you have a negative rise because of the steep angle of the top tube.

And yeah, the ends of the drops look to be pointing up just a little bit, but that could be an illusion caused by the angle of the TT like the stem.

Very nice! I've been looking at some of the 3T Team stuff and it looks very nice. Very expensive as well though!. I really like the stem. The seat post needs a red line too... I think. Thanks for that.

I bet it would look even better with black tires and hoods. The red accents are good, but at some point they quit being accents and look gawdy. For me it's past that point.

The stem looks good, but do you see what I'm talking about with the angle of the stem? There are less spacers and the bar is the same height. I didn't move the bars at all, just rotated them. I would not put a red stripe on the seat post. All your red lines are horizontal or around your tires. Having a line vertical would break the lines visually to me.

I put black hoods and a carbon toupe saddle on for you. Personally, I think the black hoods, black cages , black saddle, black seatpost and the 3t stem combo looks best.
