Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Thanks all for your comments on my Super 6. I've made a few tweaks to maybe bring the temp up a few degrees...

Some astute observations on the fit... Had a pro fit a few years back, to paraphrase CB: "you're a freak!" (short torso, extremely long femurs). To properly fit I need something like a 59cm seat tube with a 55cm (or shorter) top tube. Not ready for custom frame (yet) so compromise, compromise...

And being an old fart with a preference for horizontal top tubes narrows my options to almost nil. Been keeping a spreadsheet with published frame dimensions. My first attempt was a fail with way too much seat post exposed but a decent cockpit (large LOOK 586). This XL Super 6 is my second attempt with cockpit adjustments (Zipp 70mm stem and short/shallow bars).

@Doge RD readjusted with two links removed from chain, thanks for pointing it out.

This will be my first foray into training with power... I'm hoping the dZero metrics will help me fine tune my position... may be able to ride my threshold segment in a few days.

FYI for anyone that cares weight with Metron 40/25mm GP4000s, eTap with Quarq Red, and pedals/cages/520 is 14.8 pounds on my bathroom scale.

...
There is a screw right behind the bolt that goes into the dropout that affects the swing.
Turn it to the right and the body of the RD should become more parallel to the ground.

Taking mechanic advice over the Internet from BF is a risk. It just looked like that screw needed turning.

No I was talking about the green and white Cannondale.

I think the picture is shrunk? Unless my browser automatically fits it to my screen, sorry if that's the case I'll change it.

That is more a women's frame geometry. You might want to look at that. They are typically shorter TT to seat tube ratio. Nothing about them says "woman" if you remove the pink tape :-)

I honestly never considered that... interesting...

I need to ride this frame, and would have no qualms about flipping over the stem and even cutting the steerer down some more.

Your frame may work just fine for you. But it is a race geometry and as such something that fits you well may not win the beauty contest. We (I own, son rode) had one before it got stolen.
This is NOT a hot-or-not entry, but you can see my kid (I know you are not a teen) has the opposite issue. Now even worse, the EVO TT is too short.

Updated photos of my Allez Sprint.
- replaced Red mechanical with Etap
- switched from 120mm to 130mm stem and lowered slightly
- replaced the Boyd clinchers with Roval CLX50 tubulars
- replaced Garmin Vectors with Time Xpresso 15 pedals
- added Stages power meter
- replaced the solid white bartape with Supercaz black to white

I think the loss of shifting cables really cleans up the lines.

Valid point as that may be, I don't think many (any?) women's geometry frames would be made in a large enough size.

Best Allez Sprint build i've seen. Love everything about it, the rovals are incredible and that bar tape is just awesome!

Well, I was talking about cycledogg's black and silver Cannondale

It's shrunk, but the actual image is still huge - 3858 x 2568 px. It still puts a load on bandwidth and the browser even if it looks smaller, thanks for changing it. Too bad the original was already quoted in the very next post, but what can you do.

If it fits you, then it's hot...but you'll probably get "flip it" comments on the stem. And puhleese get a proper Park Tool scale and not a bathroom one.

First ride yesterday (58 degrees F) and IT FITS!
Back to the trainer today (currently 22 F)

Folks at LBS want to weigh it on their Park scale, and then take it for a rip :-)

Ill play. Just finally "completed" the build on this Domane SLR that I purchased as a frameset a couple of months ago. I am pretty happy with the results but any constructive (or less than ) criticism is welcome. Try and and ignore the bag and lights if possible.

STUNNING RIDE and the matte finish looks amazing. i have a matte black emonda sl6 but it looks nowhere near as sexy as this!

No reason to apologize, if you ride your bike you need to carry spares and the taillight is for safety.

It's hot, now put some miles on it.

Any reason you built it yourself? Looks mostly Trek/Bontrager components.

7.5/10

its configured as best as possible given the frame which looks like an open-mould cyclocross frame.
only fault on parts selection is cranks where a Red or 9170 would be better

Most of the parts came off of my Emonda so it is essentially a Emonda SLR 8 build onto the Domane frame.

Another black bike.

Recently finished Workswell Bikes WCB-R-066 (Chinese carbon Cervelo R5 clone), full Shimano Ultegra 6800 (53/39 + 11-25, short cage and pedals), Mavic Cosmic Pro Carbon Exalith wheelset, Conti 4k2 25c with 60mm stem Conti light tubes, 3T carbon cockpit; team stealth Zero25 post and team stealth Ernova bars with an alloy team stealth Arx2 stem, Fabric shallow scoop saddle (alloy rails pictured, carbon rails on it now) + Fabric silicon bar tape.

Completed Saturday March 18th. I have 2.5 hours on the rollers and one 37 mile road ride on it thus far. So far I'm impressed with the frame. I'll see how it is doing after 500-1000miles...

16.8pounds (7.6kg) as is. I built for durability and not weight.

Not shown: Bottles are Fabric's cageless system and it will get a Wahoo Element Bolt computer when UPS decides to deliver it.
