Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

You're telling me. Took the BG master fitter forever to get it dialed. She even had to call Specialized. They hadn't heard of a "tibial osteotomy" before.

My femurs are longer than my tibias...specially with the but that the surgeon took out. Also, it turns out I have a 1.5cm femoral length discrepancy. Dunno if they're "crazy long". I do lack hamstring flexibility and the fit reflects that.

If and when we can raise the seat and/or lower the stem (post plastic surgery perhaps) we'll revisit, I'm sure.

I'm no fan either, but if your going to disqualify that seat post, you should disqualify all Roubaix, Venge and similarly modeled bikes as well; they're all equally peculiar. And that seat post goes with that bike as well as any other if you ask me.

It may be the lighting. When the temps are above freezing again and there's some actual sunlight, I'll get a better pic in front of the garage door.

Thought about gold tape, but it'd have to be the perfect hue of gold. The Deda gold tape is too muted/dull. I do like the idea of gold chain, tape, and cable ends.

I don't know how long this Lizard Skins will be on the road bike, anyway. I normally prefer much thinner tape on the road bike, so this may end up on my 'cross bike before long.

Awesome.
The fit seemed too "dialed" to be "poor taste". Keep up the great work with the weight loss.

I really like the artistry of your black and white photo, but I'm curious about what it would look like in color.

uh that is in color?

There's the tiny bit of red on my stem, otherwise the bike is black/white/metallic gray

Eh, the red accents and green accents are each doing their own thing.

From a purely aesthetic point, the stem would look better (and probably end up placing the stem in the exact same position) if you flipped it and mounted it with all the spacers underneath. This would also make it easier to lower the stem/handlebar position over time, if you feel you may go that direction.

I think, possibly, of all the bikes I've ever seen, this is the first RED equipped bike I've ever seen with SPD pedals. The type of rider that picks RED is usually the weight weenie roadie purist type, so three-bolt road or Speedplay is usually the thing.
