looking for a new cycling computer any suggestions?
Hi i was looking to get a new computer and was hoping for one with heart rate monitoring capabilities and cadence. I was thinking about the Polar CS200cad wireless cadence and speed and hr monitor. What do you all think and if you had experience with this one or any other suggestions

I was thinking of picking up a Polar cs200cad a couple weeks ago. Then I found amazon.com's killer deal on the Garmin Edge 305 (with cadence sensor and heart rate). I just got the Garmin on Sunday, but I'm loving the hell out of it so far. My neighbor has the Polar cs200cad... he says he wishes he'd known about and bought the Garmin instead.

Just picked up a refurbished Garmin Edge 305 on eBay for $200, including cadence and HR. Great deal, and far easier to use than any Polar/Cateye i've ever used.

Then you upload your routes to motionbased. It's great to share rides and track your rides.

I use a Polar 725 and LOVE the data I get from it. It makes pretty graphs. I also use a Power Tap, but if I wasn't in need of that power data, the Polar would be and is everything that I could want or need out of a cycling computer.
Good luck!

I have sort of given up. I have four bikes and four bike computers. I have changed batteries, checked cables. On all, the LCD display just does not light up. Maybe I'll get a new computer for my race bike. Otherwise, to heck with it. All four failed about the same time and not that old. I know my approximate mileage. Basically , I just ride a lot.

I gave up on Polar's CS200cad because power lines always seemed to interfere with the sensors. Sucks having a computer that flips out on specific points in the ride.
I'm using an Edge 305 right now and do completely love it. You can customize your display fields. You can set your zone ranges. The HR and cadence units are dependable.
To be honest, I'd pay the premium for these even though I never use the GPS.
Brandy, it's too late now but you could've turned off the GPS to get near-infinite battery life.

I'm going to get the Garmin Edge 705 w/ cadence. Anyone used that one? I picked it for the ability to load maps.

Got the polar cs200cad and am a little disappointed in the logging of it and that I have to use their stupid sonic transfer to get the ride details onto their website, not heard of mini usb huh..... that said it has been very reliable in the recording of the rides though not looking for much time distance hr max, min avg etc where and when how high low etc those were recorded would have been nice but I suppose that is where the 305 comes in.

The Polar CS600 has cadence, heart rate AND a power monitor that's supposedly just as good if not better than the iBike one... Pretty good bang for the buck from the look of it. I'm considering...
Plus it (like the Garmin) has the thing where you can d/l all the data and look at cadence/HR versus terrain/slope % etc. and analyze the heck out of your rides.
The Garmin is good, but I haven't been able to find any way to add power meter functionality to it yet for less than a couple thousand bucks. Information on who's making ANT-compatible PMs is pretty limited too.
