Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

deciding on a road bike

im thinking about either getting a giant tcr a1 or specialized tarmac elite / elite compact, but i do not know what would be the better buy. i know that the breaks on the tcr a1 are tiagra, but everything else is shimano 105 or equiv to that level of ccomponents... and the tramac elite is all 105 components and whole carbon frame. so in the end is it worth the extra 450 bonars for the elite?

The elite sounds better to me, based on what you've written. Whichever you get, make sure it fits.

What were your impressions of the bikes that you test rode?
