Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

5'6" and 137-140

Just out of curiousity. What would a professional cyclist be classified as if they were of those dimensions? not that those are my numbers or anything

I think that would be fine.... if you were 3 inches taller or more.
So...overweight.

Depends on the w/kg...

But, in all honesty, a bit overweight. Could stand to lose 10lbs unless you're absolutely crushing it in terms of power production.

niiiiice. there's no way my body would allow me to go below 130 lbs. i've run xc and track since 7th grade, and the lightest i've been in the last 2 years was only right around 132-134 in my racing shape. that's prolly one of the reasons that i was sooo much better at track

You could easily be a climber. Your height is 66". A good weight for a climber that height is 132 pounds.

You are not far from that. Anything less as far as weight, and it's bonus speed.

Typicaly, 2 pounds per inch in height is a climbers body.

Dude, don't worry about it so much yet.

You're a CAT 4 right now, when you start making headways into the 2's, then start thinking hard about cutting those last 5 pounds. Concentrate on learning to train and race more efficiently. Once you get into the rhythm, your body will come down to a weight where it feels comfortable. You don't want to lose power by cutting weight.

au contraire, apparently you haven't felt or skated on a pair of their new ultra g5's. 3rd lightest skate on the market as of now. they're 1 lb 9 oz's. it's like you put your foot into heaven, they're sick

If you have other intense sport interests I see no point in developing a frame of a starving street urchin.
Most here a simply bike riders.

i cycle alot more than play hockey now. i can't afford to play juniors, at 4400 a season, it's not worth it, especially if you're not looking to get a college scholarship for it. plus, at my size, i was realllly small out on the rink. definitely the smallest on my team

that'd be a tough decision to make. if i was offered a full ride d3 i'd prolly take it, b/c i don't want to be in debt after college, but if he's lookin to go d1, junior A is definitely a great decision. That's what my friend is doing right now. took one year off of college to play A's and have some d1's take a look at him. it's the life he chose to make and i'm all for it as long as it makes him happy.
