New roadie, new Bike
Hello,
I'll use this as my introduction as well. I'm a college student at NCSU, I'm an Ultimate (frisbee) player, and I have been a mountain biker off and on for a while. I've ridden a Wal-Mart mountain bike that weighs about 50 lbs since I was young (a Pacific dual suspension if you care, it's in pretty bad shape). I enjoy mountain biking but the start/stop nature of the trails around here, and the distance I have to drive just to start my ride kind of annoys me.
So now I've made the move to road. I've always liked the way road bikes look, and enjoyed the couple times I've ridden them. I think I'll enjoy starting my ride outside my dorm, no car needed at all. I'm also gonna use it to ride to classes (duh).
So I've meandered my way to my point now... sorry for the delay...
I finally bought my first road bike. The frame is a 2006 Fuji Roubaix RC and the fork is an FC-440 carbon fiber monocoque. The frameset has 0 miles on it!
Crank, bottom bracket, and shifters are Dura Ace.
Derailleurs are both Ultegra. Cassette is Ultegra.
It's a double crank with a 9 speed cassette.
Forte Titan Deep wheels with Hutchinson Red Fusion Comp tires. Ritchey bars and stem.
The seat is stock Fuji.
Cleaned and tuned by a bike shop, bought on eBay. I asked the seller and he said the rest of the components (other than frame and fork) have about 1200 miles.
The only things I need are pedals, and possibly a saddle because I hear the stock Fuji isn't real comfortable.
I am proud, but that's not why I'm posting this. I'm wondering if I got an ok deal? I paid $900 with free shipping and insurance included. I had some help from a rider friend whose opinion I trust.
I'm glad to be a budding roadie, and hopefully I'll be able to add something to the forum.
Thanks

NC state has a great cycling club. Find out about them and race. Collegiate cycling is one of the best ways to get into racing... tons of categories and tons of cheap races.
...and NC state puts on a great weekend of early-season racing in February, a road race out in bumf*ck and a crit on campus. Fun stuff.

That sounds like a good deal - trying getting that spec on and 08 or 09 without paying 2-3x what you put down.

$900 for a bike with DURA-ACE!?!?!?!?!
That confirms it. The $950 I paid for my Trek 1500 (full 105 with Ultegra RD) was such a rip-off.
But it makes me happy. Therefore, it is worth every penny.
And yes. You got quite the deal.

Thanks for the input. Keep in mind the components have 1200 miles, but from what I hear that's not bad. I'm looking forward to getting it soon. Working on finding pedals/shoes/saddle?/mirror/computer, all that stuff.
As far as NC State Cycling, I doubt I'll have time to ride with them. The friend I mentioned who I trust is on the team. I play Ultimate and have practices 4 times a week usually. All I really wanted a bike for is training for Ultimate, commuting to class, and enjoying some nice rides. My knees can't take all the running I have to do to stay in shape, and I enjoy cycling a lot more than running.

Yeah, the weird thing about the auction that made me second guess it is he had tried to sell it twice before. He had lots of lookers but no buyers.

Update--
I finally got the bike to my LBS today. The first place I took it (Performance Bike) said the BB was installed incorrectly, and some other stuff, and wanted $100 to fix it all.
Then I took it to All Star and had their head mechanic look at it. He said the BB wasn't adjusted correctly (apparently the DA BB is special and needs adjustment, not just installation, something about needle bearings, he lost me), rear derailer hanger was bent slightly, rear wheel was out of true and also out of round, and that's about it, and he wanted about $50. Needless to say I left it with him.
He is also going to take a look at my left-side brifter. Being the idiot that I am, I managed to mess it up. I was trying to get at the cable housing for the front derailer, and in doing so I took off one too many covers on the front, and a spring popped out. I got the spring back in, but not tensioned enough and now the shifter doesn't have a good "feel" to it. It doesn't pop back. I think maybe I got the spring in correctly and it just feels like that because there's no cable tension on it right now, but we'll see.
I also picked up a DA shifter cable set (to fix the front) and a pedal wrench. I'm getting some calipers when I go back but they were out of stock atm.
All in all, not too bad. I've e-mailed the guy I bought it from to see if he'll reimburse me some/all of the costs of getting it fixed (minus the brifter, that was all me), since it was supposed to be in good shape.
edit: The pedals I ended up ordering are Look Keo Classic from PBK (I ordered them two weeks ago almost and I'm still waiting, not that it matters until I get my bike back from the shop), and the shoes are Vittoria Pro Power (they're sexy).
